The Music Makers

Rod King, public

“I celebrate the Fort Wayne Area Community Band!” says local charter member Rod King.

“I dug my saxophone from under the bed in November 1979 to join a new community band at IPFW with 32 other musicians,” he goes on to explain. “We’re now more than 70 members and are an ‘ensemble in residence,’ which makes me feel like I’m part of the university.”

Through creative collaboration with fellow music makers, folks like Rod King share their gifts and enrich the quality of life for all of us. Providing these opportunities for students, alumni, and the community to come together and do great things is part of our mission, and IPFW is proud to host so many talented local musicians, artists, performers, and writers who contribute to the creative culture of northeast Indiana.
